Author Representation and Book Publishing
Authors from various walks of life have used the firm in their dealings with book publishers and in securing book deals. From non-fiction, fiction, and biography, to children’s books, we have been involved and understand the various rights that authors need to focus on and protect. The firm helped to place and negotiate the book deal for the Tim McGraw song, “Live Like You Were Dying.” The book was released in conjunction with the single in 2004. While the song was an 11 week #1, the inspirational color book by the same title with an accompanying CD Single was a New York Times best-seller. The authors of the song, Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman, were represented by Derek Crownover in their book deal negotiations with Thomas Nelson publishers. Since then Craig Wiseman has gone on to develop a church-based ministry program (www.llywd.org) with Doug Slaybaugh who was instrumental in assisting with the success of the wildly popular book, Purpose Driven Life. Here are some examples of the work that the firm has done for author and book publishing clients:
- Negotiate single book deals
- Negotiate series book deals
- Renegotiate book deals
- Negotiate ghost writer deals
- Negotiate book agent deals
- License content, pictures, and art for authors and book publishers
- Legal readings for biographies
- Movie option deals
- Screen writing option negotiations
